I turned on my Einstein robot, heard a conversation and now nothing is happening. What do I do next?
A1: When you turn your Einstein robot on for the first time you will be greeted by a friendly Tech Support voice who will help you get the professor up and running. At the end of this short sequence, Tech Support suggests that you download and run a special App called the Stein-O-Matic. You can choose to download and activate the Stein-O-Matic immediately, or talk to Einstein first.

A2: If you ever miss what Einstein said, just say, “Repeat” and he’ll say it again.
QUESTION #2:
Einstein asked me if I want to chat or go online. What do I do now?
A: Einstein is a genius and his brain needs constant stimulation. What can be more stimulating than another brilliant mind? When Einstein is offline he’ll want to chat or play simple offline activities. Try these!

    - You could chat with Einstein by saying “Let’s Chat.”
    -You could get Einstein online by saying “Go Online.”
    -Or you can ask him some personal questions by saying “Hey Professor…”, then asking him, “How are you?”
QUESTION #3:
What is an Einstein Account and how do I create one?
A: Your Einstein Account stores all the progress you make with each Genius Profile created in the Stein-O-Matic. This includes which Data Cards and Videos you’ve unlocked, your Genius level, how many IQ stars and Coins you’ve collected…even which robot is associated with your Genius Profile.

You create your Einstein Account when you launch the Stein-O-Matic for the first time. To do so, follow these steps:

   1. Launch the Stein-O-Matic App (for the first time)
   2. On the Sign in screen, touch the Create New Account Button.
   3. Provide a valid email
   4. Provide and confirm a new password (must be at least 6 characters.)
   5. Touch the ‘checkmark’ button
The Online Experience
QUESTION #1:
What does it mean to ‘get Einstein “online?”’
A: Einstein is Online when he is actively connected to a local Wi-Fi network.
QUESTION #2:
Why would I want to get Einstein “online?”
A: Your Einstein robot is a ‘connected learning tool.’ This means that you will have the best experience with Einstein when he’s connected to the internet. Einstein can do the following when he’s Online:

   You can say “Hey, Professor...” then ask Einstein hundreds of knowledge questions using a natural language speech pattern. Hey, Professor questions can be asked when Einstein is Offline or in Mobile mode as well, but his responses will be limited.

   Einstein will deliver a Kick Start science lesson, and add new data cards and videos to your Stein-O-Matic, every day.

   Communicate seamlessly with the Stein-O-Matic. This means Einstein will react and offer help as you play Stein-O-Matic games and activities. Einstein can communicate with the Stein-O-Matic in Mobile mode as well.

How do I get Einstein “online?”
A1: To get Einstein connected to a local Wi-Fi network for the first time, you must have downloaded and launched the Stein-O-Matic app; and signed up for an Einstein Account. A wizard will then take you through the first time setup. The steps are:    1. Launch the Stein-O-Matic.
   2. Select your genius profile and touch the checkmark button to load it. The main menu will appear with the Connection channel active.
   3. The Connection channel will show you Einstein’s current connected state. It also allows you to quickly and easily change between Einstein’s three different connected states: Online, Offline and Mobile mode.

A2: If Einstein has been connected before, but he is currently in Offline or Mobile mode, you can get him back online by activating the Connection channel in the Stein-O-Matic main menu and touching the Go Online button. Einstein will automatically connect to a known network if it is in range.

How do I know when Einstein is “online?"
A1: To find out whether Einstein is connected to a local Wi-Fi network, do the following:

   1. Launch the Stein-O-Matic.
   2. Select your genius profile and touch the checkmark button to load it. The main menu will appear with the Connection channel active.
   3. The Connection channel will show you Einstein’s current connected state. It also allows you to quickly and easily change between Einstein’s three different connected states: Online, Offline and Mobile mode.

A2: When you switch Einstein’s power ON, he will try to automatically connect to a known Wi-Fi network (this will be a network that he’s connected to before.) If he connects successfully he will say, “I’m Online!

What is Einstein’s Network Name and Password?
A1: Einstein has a built-in Wi-Fi Network Access Point and a secure password to access it. This feature is used when getting Einstein setup for the first time, or when putting him into Mobile mode. The Stein-O-Matic provides step-by-step instructions for either process, but if you ever need Einstein to tell you his internal Network Name or Password, just press the Binding Button on his belly one time.

Einstein’s Network Name is always the word ‘EINSTEIN’ follow by a unique four-digit number: EINSTEIN####
Einstein’s Network Password is always the word ‘genius’ followed by a unique four-digit number: genius####
QUESTION #6:
I entered Einstein’s Network Name and Password into my device’s Wi-Fi Settings. Now what do I do?
A1: After you select Einstein’s Network from the available Wi-Fi networks that show up in your device’s Wi-Fi settings screen, and enter the correct password on your smart device’s Wi-Fi settings screen, you will need to switch back to the Stein-O-Matic app. Once the Stein-O-Matic app is active again, you will be told what to do next.
QUESTION #7:
What if I want to connect Einstein to a different Wi-Fi network?
A: If you want to change the home/local Wi-Fi Network to which Einstein is connected, do the following:

   1. Launch the Stein-O-Matic.
   2. Select your genius profile and touch the checkmark button to load it. The main menu will appear with the Connection channel active.
   3. Select the Switch WiFi Network button.
   4. Select a network from the network list and enter the network password
   5. Touch the checkmark button

Why doesn’t my home/local Wi-Fi network appear in the Stein-O-Matic’s Wi-Fi network list box?
A: If the Wi-Fi network you are looking for does not appear in the network list on the Stein-O-Matic, please check the following: (solutions are listed from more likely to less likely):

   Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on for your smart device. (Turn off airplane mode!)
   Make sure the router for the network is switched on, and that you are in range.
   Make sure the network is not Hidden. If it is, unhide your network and try again.

*if you still experience issues you may need to contact your service provider.

I’m Offline (or in Mobile mode,) but I want to go “online.” What do I do?
A1: To manually switch to Online mode:

   1. Make sure you are in range of a Wi-Fi network.
   2. Launch the Stein-O-Matic.
   3. Select your genius profile and touch the checkmark button to load it. The main menu will appear with the Connection channel active.
   4. Select the Go Online button. Einstein will automatically attempt to connect to the last known Wi-Fi that is in range.
   5. If no known network is found, the Stein-O-Matic will ask you to select from a list of local Wi-Fi networks.

A: The Stein-O-Matic is an App (available for iOs and Android) that is packed full of content to help you on your Path to Genius. While Einstein is Online (or in Mobile mode), he communicates seamlessly with the Stein-O-Matic, responding to your actions and offering help as you play. With the Stein-O-Matic App, you can:

    -Create up to five Genius Profiles for each ‘genius’ in your household and associate each profile with a customizable avatar.

    -Get a Kick Start science lesson, delivered to the Stein-O-Matic and through the Professor, everyday.

    -Play games, take quizzes and complete activities built around 300+ topics from the fields of Life science, Earth science and Physical science.

    -Earn special breakthrough badges to mark your achievements.

    -Unlock Genius Gear and customize your avatar in hundreds of different combinations.

There are six Stein-O-Matic channels that can be accessed by rotating the channel dial in the lower right hand corner of the main menu:

    -The Connection channel will always show Einstein’s current connected state and give you options for changing his connection and keeping him updated.

    -The Launch Lab channel let’s you explore the concept of Gravity in a game called…wait for it…Gravity!

    -The Progress Channel shows your current Path to Genius progress with information like: your current level status, how many Genius Gear items you’ve purchased, how many Breakthrough Badge pieces you’ve unlocked and how many IQ Coins you’ve banked.

    -The Brain Games channel lets you start a challenge and shows how many IQ points you have left to earn today by taking challenges.

    -The Genius Files channel collects the Einstein Videos and Data Cards you’ve unlocked so far.

Where can I download the Stein-O-Matic App?
A: The Stein-O-Matic is an App (available for iOs and Android) and can be found on the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices.) Search for: “Stein-O-Matic”

How do I navigate the Stein-O-Matic
A: Content in the Stein-O-Matic is organized into Channels (and other touchable elements) on the main menu.

   Touch and rotate the Channel Dial to switch through content channels.
   Touch any red-colored element on a channel to activate it.
   Touch your avatar’s head shot to customize your avatar
   Touch the badge under your head shot to view your completed badges and to select one to pin to the main menu.


TIPS:
   The ‘question mark’ icon in the bottom left hand corner of the main menu will toggle a simple help screen.
   To make things a little easier, ANY element in the stein-o-matic’s interface that is colored RED is a touchable element.
   The icon in the upper left hand corner of the main menu will allow you to load a different genius profile.
QUESTION #4:
I’m playing with the Stein-O-Matic, but Einstein isn’t saying anything. What’s wrong?
A: Einstein is Offline and cannot communicate with the Stein-O-Matic. Get Einstein Online or place him into Mobile mode.

What is the “Path to Genius?
A: Through the Stein-O-Matic App, and the wonders of robotics, Einstein will provide daily lessons to teach you the fundamentals of the core sciences so that, one day, you can be recognized for your own genius! Ambitious? Certainly! Using the Stein-O-Matic, you can play games and complete activities and quizzes to show your mastery of the sciences. In doing so, you will collect IQ Stars. Collect enough IQ Stars to be raised to the next Genius Level. We call this The Path to Genius!
QUESTION #6:
What are Genius Levels?
A: Your current Genius Level always appears in an orange burst element attached to the right edge of your head shot. Genius Levels are a way to track your progress. By playing and completing activities you earn IQ Stars, and if you collect enough IQ Stars you will raise your Genius Level, and unlock perks.

New Genius Level perks include:
   New Genius Gear is unlocked at each new Genius Level
   All IQ Stars used to reach a new level are immediately converted into spendable IQ Coins.
QUESTION #7:
What are IQ Stars and how do I earn them?
A: Playing Stein-O-Matic activities will reward you with IQ Stars. You will need to collect a certain amount of IQ Stars each time you want to raise to the next Genius level.

IQ Stars can be earned in the following ways:
   Earn up to 250 IQ every day by taking Brain Game challenges.
   Earn IQ by completing Data Cards. A Data Card is ‘completed’ when you’ve played all four activities on the card.
   Earn IQ by collecting IQ Stars on each level of the Launch Lab’s Gravity game, and by completing Gravity levels.
QUESTION #8:
What are IQ Coins and how do I earn them?
A: IQ Coins can be spent to purchase Genius Gear and customize your avatar. Whenever you raise to a new Genius Level, the IQ Stars you collected to do so are immediately converted into spendable IQ Coins.
QUESTION #9:
Why can’t I equip my avatar with some of the Genius Gear items?
A: You can only purchase unlocked Genius Gear. Some Gear only becomes unlocked when you reach a certain Genius Level.
QUESTION #10:
What are Data Cards?
A: You can unlock over 300 Data Cards in the Stein-O-Matic that teach you about a topic within the fields of Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science. For example, there are Data Cards about Molecules, Marsupials and even Mars! Every time Einstein presents a new Kick Start lesson, he will unlock several Data Cards in the Stein-O-Matic. Completing Data Cards is a great way to earn IQ Stars, and to expand your knowledge of the expanding universe.

Can I turn off the music or sound effects?
A: Yes you can. In the upper right hand corner of the Stein-O-Matic’s main menu is a ‘gear’ icon. Touch the icon to bring up the Settings screen. Music and sound effects can be toggled on or off by touching the MUTE checkbox.
The Offline Experience

Going Mobile

What is Mobile Mode?
A: Mobile mode can best be described as an ‘Enhanced Offline’ mode. When Einstein is Offline, he cannot communicate with the Stein-O-Matic. By placing Einstein in Mobile mode, he will be directly connected to the Stein-O-Matic…no need for a WiFi Network! In Mobile mode, Einstein will have access to his Offline content, but he will also be able to react seamlessly as you play with the Stein-O-Matic. This is a perfect mode when you want to take Einstein on a trip.
QUESTION #2:
What if I want to travel with my Einstein robot?
A: Your Einstein robot is a ‘connected learning tool.’ This means that you will have the best experience with Einstein when he’s connected to the internet. But if you ever want to take Einstein out of range of a Wi-Fi network, it’s best to place him into Mobile mode. In Mobile mode, he will have access to his Offline content, but he will also be able to react seamlessly as you play with the Stein-O-Matic.

Advanced TIP: Tech savvy travelers can use their smart phone’s ability to create a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect Einstein to it. Now he’s Online again!

Maintaining Einstein
QUESTION #1:
Einstein just indicated that his batteries are low. What should I do?
A: At your earliest possible convenience, change Einstein’s batteries by following the steps below.

1. Switch Einstein’s power to the OFF position. Do not remove the batteries without turning Einstein OFF.
2. Remove the batteries from the foot compartments.
3. Connect them to the charger and plug them in.
4. If the red light on the charger is not lit, this indicates that the batteries are charged. Connect the batteries to Einstein and place them back into the foot compartments.
5. Switch Einstein’s power to the ON position.


TIP: Charge Einstein’s batteries during his ‘down-time’ so that he’s always ready to go.

A: There are many points in the experience when Einstein will speak to you.

   If you’re ‘chatting’ with Einstein when he’s Offline and you miss what he says, just say, “Repeat” and he’ll say it again.

   If you’re playing with the Stein-O-Matic, Einstein will often comment. Listening to Einstein’s comments during play is part of the learning experience on your Path to Genius! In these cases, Einstein will repeat something whenever it’s relevant to what you’re doing.
